This Very Original 230 SL Runs And Drives As A Well-Preserved Low Mileage Mercedes Should. It Must Be Seen To Be Appreciated. Expensive And Worth Every Penny.  VIN 11304210005945.

It would be hard to find a better example of an original 230 SL anywhere at any price. The car was presented to it's owner by her husband on her birthday in 1964 in Germany, as a factory delivery. After a few weeks of touring on the continent, the car was shipped to their local dealer in Wisconsin. The hard-top remained on the car as the owner preferred to use it as a coupe. It was driven sparingly and only in the summer months. The owner's husband was active in the Mercedes Club of America and was an avid car collector. When the owner was no longer able to use the car, in 2002, she gave it to her son, my 60 year old high school friend who sold it to me. The only thing he replaced was the exhaust, with a new stainless steel system. I put a new soft top on the car because the original had deteriorated from over 50 years storage in the boot. I also replaced the leather seat covers because the original stitching had pulled loose. The rest of the interior is original. All of the chrome and trim pieces are original as well. Black Forest LLC in Glendale WI did all of the work for me on this car. They told me it is the nicest original 230SL they have ever seen. Mechanically, the car has been completely checked and serviced. I had the front-end rebuilt as well to preserve the outstanding drive quality. I re-painted the rear of the car from the doors back because at some point in its life, there had been paint work done and it did not hold up very well with age. The hub caps were also re-sprayed. The fire wall pad was replaced because it was starting to fray and looked shabby. Other than what I have mentioned, the car is completely original. Factory options, confirmed by the Data Card include: Installed hard-top, Power steering, Heavy duty heater, Front seat belts, Rear emergency sideways seat - leather, Chrome bars on hard-top and, WSW tires. The original spare remains in the trunk. Also included are many rare factory accessories, the original tool kit (including the tire gauge) and, complete documentation and records. Interested buyers are invited to personally inspect and drive this very special car.
